If your pet suffers from a chronic illness, needs a boost to his or her immune system, has a student onset problem such as nausea or pain, or even battles emotional issues such as fear and anxiety, acupuncture can help your pet.

Veterinarian giving acupuncture

What is Veterinary Acupuncture?

Acupuncture may be defined as the insertion of needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. Each acupuncture point has a specific action when stimulated. It is believed that as a point is stimulated, it releases blocked or stagnant energy and brings that energy back into balance.

What can Acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture will not cure every condition, but it can work very well when it is indicated. There is good evidence that acupuncture is effective for the treatment of musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, respiratory, urinary, skin, reproductive, neurologic, and behavioral disorders. In cancer patients, acupuncture can be extremely effective for the alleviation of pain, fatigue and help to alleviate the side effects of treatments.

Is Acupuncture painful?

Even for small animals, the insertion of acupuncture needles is virtually painless. Most animals become very relaxed and may even become sleepy. Acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medical treatment for animals when it is administered by a properly trained veterinarian.

Is Acupuncture right for your pet?

To determine if acupuncture will be an effective therapy for your pet’s condition, we must schedule a consultation with our veterinary acupuncturist. A thorough physical examination is conducted first to diagnose your pet’s condition and determine the acupuncture treatment plan that is best for your pet.
